ECONTROL SERIES 1

MODERN. CONTROLLABLE. ECO-FRIENDLY

With the eControl system, your ovens and hotplates can be left on 24/7, or turned off/on as you need them. This gives you the option to reduce ambient heat into your kitchen (great for summer months), and save on your fuel bills with a flexible cooking style.

The eControl gives you the flexibility of a modern Aga Range Cooker, with the option of 'always on' convenience and the ambient warmth Aga Range Cookers are known for.

The Series 1 has now been superseded by the Series 2 and the newer, upgraded eControl Series X.

HOW DOES THE ECONTROL SYSTEM WORK?

HOW THE ECONTROL SERIES 1 WORKS:

The Series 1 eControl system is comparable to AGA Rangemaster's own Dual Control model, but is independently made and not endorsed by AGA Rangemaster.

The two easy-to-use control dials allow you to use your hotplates independently from the ovens. This gives you more flexibility over the heat output into your kitchen, your energy consumption and your running costs.

Each hob can be individually turned on and off, with the extra option of an Eco Mode for lower running costs and improved heat-up times. You can even upgrade your left hand hotplate to an Electric Ceramic Hob (pictured) to get instant heat. The ovens can be controlled independently from the hobs, with the option of a Roasting, Baking and Simmering oven (yes! even on 2 Oven eControl systems!)

Very early models of the eControl Series 1 may have a standard element setup (without a grill, therefore no baffle plate required), but many will have been upgraded. All Series 2 models and Series X models will have the additional grill element as standard.

With the ovens on FULL AMBIENT HEAT mode, you have a Roasting Oven, with a Baking Oven below.

With the ovens on ECO MODE, you have Baking Oven, with a Warming Oven below.

With the ovens on NORMAL MODE, you have the traditional Roasting Oven, with a Simmering Oven below.

ECO mode for the hotplates, drops their temperature by 100c.

ECO mode for the ovens, reduces your Roasting Oven temperature to around 180c.

THE ECONTROL HEAT UP TIMES:

PRE-HEATING AND TEMPERATURE GUIDE

The control panel for the eControl system is shown, along with the rough temperatures for each setting. These temperatures are always a guide only and shouldn't be followed by the degree. As with any Aga Range Cooker, temperatures can vary and each cooker has its own character and idiosyncrasies.

If you are measuring temperatures using a laser gun, please be aware that different parts of the ovens will read different temperatures. The best way to measure oven temperatures, is placing an Oven Thermometer in the absolute centre (width-wise and height-wise) of the oven. The best way to measure your hotplate temperature is an infrared temperature gun. Laser guns will reflect off the surface, giving false readings.

ECONTROL HEAT UP TIMES

As you can see from the below heat-up times, utilising ECO mode in-between cooking times can reduce your waiting times whilst still reducing your running costs.

Top Oven (from cold) – Roasting in 70 minutes. Baking in 50 minutes.

Top Oven (from Eco mode) – Roasting in 25 minutes. Baking in 5 minutes.

Hobs (from cold) – High in 8-10 minutes. Boiling in 14 minutes.

Hobs (from Eco mode) – Full Temperature in 5 minutes.

ECONTROL TEMPERATURES

As with all Aga Range Cookers, temperatures are a guide only.

OUR ROOM-VENTING CONFIGURATION

ECONTROL FLUE OPTIONS:

Room Venting

The eControl systems are normally sold as room-venting so they can be located anywhere in the kitchen, as long as the floor can support it. Advantages to this also include warm air entering the room and it'll be impossible to leave dishes in the oven for days without noticing!

External Vent

We also offer the eControl as externally vented if the cooker is located on an external wall. The Aga Range Cooker is vented using a single 28mm copper pipe, with a T-piece connected on the outside.

ECONTROL RUNNING COSTS:

Each eControl conversion and family will have different running costs depending on how they use the cooker. We recommend utilising a manual timer to automatically turn the Aga Range Cooker on/off at set intervals. This is particularly useful when the house is empty during normal working hours, and you have meals at roughly the same time.

There's always the option to use the cooker as and when you need it (or on 24/7!) that's the joy of eControl.

Use the below kw/hr figures to work out prices on your current electricity tariff and price per unit.
