Aga Cooker Dismantle

Recycle your Aga Cooker with us!

If you have recently moved house and would like to sell your aga cooker, give us a call! We have a great green program here and we love taking old models into stock, recycling and refurbishing them for years of service.

Our Dismantle Service

We have been buying and recycling aga cookers for years! We love nothing more than rescuing old models from the scrap heap and turning them into something beautiful - one of our refurbished models.

We are usually looking for the below models:

  • Standard Models (2 and 4 Oven)
  • Pre-74 Models (2 and 4 Oven)
  • Post-74 Models (2 and 4 Oven)
  • Post-95 Models (2, 3 and 4 Oven)
  •
Identify Your Model of Aga Cooker

Unfortunately, we don't work with Rayburns, Newer Aga Cookers (Total Control, Dual Control etc), or any other type of Range Cooker. We're specialists in the traditional models of Aga Cooker!

  • How do you dismantle an Aga Cooker?

Firstly, the enamelled top plate is removed and any insulating blanket on top is disposed of (usually rockwool).

Next, it's hoovering time, with our industrial vacuum removing all of the loose-fill vermiculite inside. There is around 400 Litres of the stuff so it will take a few bags!

The cast iron ovens and ashpit are detached from the front plate, then partially dissembled and bundled into our van.

The rest of the cooker is removed bit by bit, then it's clean up time before we leave!

Dismantling and removing these cookers is a specialist job and requires proper training. They can weigh nearly a ton in weight and unfortunately, others have been gravely injured in the past, trying to remove them without professional help.

  • How Much is My Aga Cooker Worth?

It really depends on the model, age, condition and market demand.

The resale value of Aga Cookers isn't as much as first hoped. It is rare that we see a traditional or post-74 model sell for much (if anything) nowadays, with most engineers charging around £350 to remove and dispose of scrap.

FYI - at the time of writing (Nov'23), the scrap value in our area is around £80 per cooker. We prefer to take them into stock and refurbish to give them another lease of life!

On our page linked above (identifying your Aga Cooker), we have a sentance or two on the demand for each one and what to expect price-wise.

If you're looking to get the most money for your Aga Cooker, a private sale may be preferred. You may be waiting a while for a sale, and you'll need to take dismantle and relocation costs into consideration of any asking prices. Dismantle costs alone usually start from £350, depending where you are in the UK.

  • How long does it take to Dismantle an Aga Cooker?

Usually, between 1.5 and 2hrs. It's not something to be rushed, and we leave plenty of time for packing the van before a thourough cleanup afterwards.
