Aga Badge Melted?

Has your Aga badge melted? Don't panic, this is very very common! The badge design was changed in around 2010 and are now made using a zinc cast and chrome-plated with black epoxy resin - it's not vitreous enamel like your front/doors and top plate.
If damp clothes etc have been placed over the towel rail in front of the badge, the steam and heat between the clothes and the Aga front plate, can create much higher temperatures than normal, and the badge epoxy melts. This is why it's not recommended to dry washing on the towel rail - use one of our airers instead!
Once the Aga badge has melted, you have two choices:
- Remove the rest of the black epoxy to leave a completely silver badge.
- Replace it with a new badge.
You can pull up a comfy seat and use a razor blade to carefully scrape the rest of the black parts off. Some customers have found success using acetone but we don't recommend it. If you do use it, be VERY careful as it can instantly ruin your enamel front if any contact is made! Scraping the badge clean is a bit tedious but is the most fool-proof way of preventing it from happening again. Here's one we did for one of our customers:

If you want to replace your Aga badge completely, you can try contacting AGA direct. They'll normally ask for your serial number of your new aga model (refurbished models aren't usually covered!) and send you a one-time replacement.
If your cooker is a refurbished model, contact your refurbisher for a replacement - we can't sell any badges unfortunately, as they're a copyrighted brand mark.
