The ElectricKit External Screen

With your ElectricKit Advanced Conversion, you can choose to upgrade to an external screen setup.

The standard touchscreen behind the Aga Cooker control door is blanked off, and instead, there's a smaller touchscreen that can be seated on the worktop next to your Aga Cooker.

You could also opt to wall mount it if preferred, but wall mounting the screen isn't part of the Saltire Cookers conversion process, but there are instructions below.

ElectricKit Remote Screen Information

The remote screen is supplied with a hard-wired 4m long cable, which will be connected to the back of the control panel inside the cooker. If you're measuring distances, please take into account the length from the back of the control panel inside the cooker, to where the cable will exit (usually the lower back corner of the cooker).

It's currently only available in a white colour and takes power directly from the main control panel - the external screen upgrade doesn't affect the power requirements for your main ElectricKit system.

The screen provides all the same functions as the standard control panel.

Wall-Mounting Your ElectricKit Screen

Your external screen will be supplied with a worktop stand. If you'd like to mount your external screen, you'll need:

  • A single UK pattress box, installed in your chosen location (take into account the dimensions of the screen, listed below).
  • A 'fishing cable' or guide wire to route the screen cable up to the box, through the wall.
  • Suitable cable route and length.

To mount your external screen, follow the below instructions. To start the wall mounting, turn off the power to the whole cooker. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to carefully push into the openings around the screen and open the control screen.

Once the back of the panel is removed, you'll see the control board. To avoid any static electric damaging board components, be careful not to touch the board (or discharge any static on your clothes etc, by touching something metal before you do!).

We'll make a note, and take a photo of the wire connections for re-cabling later on:

Red: 9-36V
Green: 485_A
White: 485_B
Black: GND

Once the cable is removed, you can fix the back panel to your back box/pattress box using the screws provided.

Fish the cable from the Aga Cooker up through the back box, then reconnect it to the control panel in the same order as it was in the photo above.

Make sure the screen is the right way up - the GND connection is towards the bottom of the screen, the red cable identifies the top of the screen. You can then gently press it into the mounted back panel until it clicks into place (don't press on the glass!).

If your screen breaks, we can post a replacement out to you - just get in touch with us for prices and shipping etc.

Turn the power back onto the cooker and your screen will automatically power up.
