The ElectricKit External Screen

With your ElectricKit Advanced Conversion, you can choose an external screen setup. The standard touchscreen behind the Aga Cooker control door is blanked off, and instead, there's a smaller touchscreen that can be mounted on the wall or sat on the worktop next to the cooker.

Wall mounting the screen isn't part of the Saltire Cookers conversion process, so there's some pre-install requirements that need to be put in place before we arrive.

The easiest setup is to put your external screen on the worktop next to your Aga cooker, using one of our small clear plastic stands, or the official white ElectricKit screen stand which is available to order alongside your conversion kit or Refurbished Aga Cooker.

The screen is supplied with a hard-wired 4m long cable, which will be connected to the control panel inside the cooker once your conversion is finished.

This photo shows the small clear stand we can supply.

If you're going to wall mount your control panel, you'll need to install a single gang back box (or 'pattress' box) for the screen to screw into. You'll also need to pre-install a 'fishing cable' to route the screen cable up to the box, through the wall.
To start the wall mounting, turn off the power to the whole cooker. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to carefully push into the openings around the screen and open the control screen.

Once the back of the panel is removed, you'll see the control board. To avoid any static electric damaging board components, be careful not to touch the board (or discharge any static on your clothes etc, by touching something metal before you do!).

We'll make a note, and take a photo of the wire connections for re-cabling later on:

Red: 9-36V
Green: 485_A
White: 485_B
Black: GND

Once the cable is removed, you can fix the back panel to your back box/pattress box using the screws provided.

Fish the cable from the Aga Cooker up through the back box, then reconnect it to the control panel in the same order as it was in the photo above.

Make sure the screen is the right way up - the GND connection is towards the bottom of the screen, the red cable identifies the top of the screen. You can then gently press it into the mounted back panel until it clicks into place (don't press on the glass!).

If your screen breaks, we can post a replacement out to you - just get in touch with us for prices and shipping etc.

Turn the power back onto the cooker and your screen will automatically power up.

Here's some dimensions of the screen if you need them:
