ElectricKit Mobile App

To be able to enjoy the full programmability and flexibility of the Advanced system you must have strong reliable WIFI in the part of the home where the Aga will be installed/is built. This allows seamless control with the mobile app and timer.

Our ElectricKit Advanced conversions can be programmed using the Third Party Smart Life App (or any compatible "TUYA" app). This allows remote scheduling of the ovens, automatic 'rest' modes and adjustment of oven temperatures.

As standard, the ElectricKit Advanced has WiFi built-in, so you can connect your app and remotely control from the start. The ElectricKit Classic has the option of the WiFi upgrade to allow for remote on/off operation of the ovens.

Your system can operate perfectly fine without connecting to WiFi or your mobile - it's just handy for remotely controlling the ovens or scheduling on/off times, without a physical presence at the cooker, or bending down to open the control door.

If your WiFi signal is weak in the area of the cooker, we recommend looking into WiFi boosters, or talking to your internet provider. Most WiFi boosters only need a plug socket and can vastly improve signal in larger homes or those with thick walls!

*we can't provide support for your home wifi system, or problems due to weak internal signal, but we'll try our best.

Your initial setup of your app can be done on the day of installation, but your app should be downloaded and your account setup beforehand. There are instructions included in the manufacturer's user guide (which you can find on our page here). We'll run through how to connect your app below, too.

How Do I Setup The ElectricKit App?

  1. Download the app, and create your account.
  2. Connect it to your WiFi and allow access to Bluetooth.
  3. Turn off your Aga Cooker, using the isolation switch on the wall (or at the fuse board if needed).
  4. Turn the Aga back on, and search for a device inside the app (your cooker will only be discoverable for a short while after startup).
  5. Your oven will appear inside the discovery area of the app - tap it to add.
  6. Once you've connected it to your WiFi, you'll see the cooker appear on the app.

What Can I Do Inside The ElectricKit App?

Your ElectricKit-Converted Aga Cooker can be remotely controlled. This means you can change oven temperatures by tapping on the temperature numbers and adjusting to suit, turning the ovens on/off at the tap of the screen, and setting automatic schedules via the settings.

You can choose to automatically turn the Aga Cooker on/off at certain points of the day/night, or allow it to drop into pre-set 'rest' temperatures, instead of turning off completely.

Our top tips for using the ElectricKit App:

  1. Make sure you have strong and reliable WiFi connection by the cooker.

  2. Use the app to setup your on/off times if needed (it's much easier than using the control panel!).

  3. If you're turning the cooker on/off more than 3 times a day, it is easier to leave it on constantly. From our own tests, the energy spent heating up from cold a few times a day vs the energy spent maintaining a constant temperature is negligible.

  4. Utilise your rest temperatures for your ovens. Instead of turning your cooker off in the evening, try using the 'rest' temperatures to put your cooker into a 'slumber' rather than go cold. This will keep some heat inside the thick cast iron ovens, emanate a little heat into the room and reduce your heat up times. You can choose your rest temperatures but something like 100c would be enough.

  5. If you have the same mealtimes each day, use your scheduling to bring the ovens up to temperature at least half an hour before you're ready to cook. The extra time will give the ovens time to stabilise in temperature and radiate heat from all sides for the best cooking performance.

  6. Communicate any adjustments! If you're away from home and you change the oven temperature, tell anyone who is at home (although depending on which app you use, they may get a mobile notification). They may try to cook but the oven temperature has changed. Your system will revert to whatever the last instruction was, whether that is through the app or the manual control panel.
