ElectricKit Timer Advice

To be able to enjoy the full programmability and flexibility of the Advanced system you must have strong reliable WIFI in the part of the home where the Aga will be installed/is built. This allows seamless control with the mobile app and timer.

Our ElectricKit Advanced conversions can be programmed using the Smart Life App, which is a third party App.

You don't HAVE to use the app, your system can operate perfectly fine without connecting to WiFi or your mobile - it's just handy for remotely controlling the ovens or scheduling on/off times.

If your WiFi signal is weak in the area of the cooker, we recommend looking into WiFi boosters, or talking to your internet provider. Most WiFi boosters only need a plug socket and can vastly improve signal in larger homes or those with thick walls!

*we can't provide support for your home wifi system, or problems due to weak internal signal, but we'll try our best.

Your initial setup of your app can be done on the day of installation, but your app should be downloaded and your account setup beforehand.

There are instructions included in the manufacturer's user guide (which you can find on our page here).

Our top tips for using the ElectricKit WiFi Connectivity:

  1. Make sure you have strong and reliable WiFi connection by the cooker.

  2. Use the app to setup your on/off times if needed (it's much easier than using the control panel!).

  3. If you're turning the cooker on/off more than 3 times a day, it is easier to leave it on constantly. From our own tests, the energy spent heating up from cold a few times a day vs the energy spent maintaining a constant temperature is negligible.

  4. Utilise your rest temperatures for your ovens. Instead of turning your cooker off in the evening, try using the 'rest' temperatures to put your cooker into a 'slumber' rather than go cold. This will keep some heat inside the thick cast iron ovens, emanate a little heat into the room and reduce your heat up times. You can choose your rest temperatures but something like 100c would be enough.

  5. If you have the same mealtimes each day, use your scheduling to bring the ovens up to temperature at least half an hour before you're ready to cook. The extra time will give the ovens time to stabilise in temperature and radiate heat from all sides for the best cooking performance.

  6. Communicate any adjustments! If you're away from home and you change the oven temperature, tell anyone who is at home. They may try to cook but the oven temperature has changed. Your system will revert to whatever the last instruction was, whether that is through the app or the manual control panel.
