Esse Running Costs
How Much Does it Cost to Run an Esse Cooker?
With ever increasing energy costs, efficiency is important. Luckily, the Esse is designed to be efficient, with it's 'slumber' mode and induction hobs as standard.
Let's take a look at the running costs of Esse Cookers, using a standard UK energy tariff.
How Much Does an Esse Cost to Run?
Esse Cookers are designed to be 'always on' in slumber. Initially, you might think that having an 'always on' cooker means it would be less efficient - but the secret is in the efficient insulation and patented oven elements.
The Esse ovens have wrap-around elements for each oven. This evenly heats the food from all sides, and their power-share technology means that your cooker won't pull more than 2.5kW of power at any one time (great for solar and managing your consumption). The high-performance insulation inside is the same spec as industrial kilns, so less heat is lost out of the back and sides of the cooker body too.
The ovens work best when they're saturated with heat, so the slumber setting makes sure the ovens aren't cold and keeps rust at bay. The heat up times are much faster from slumber than from cold, and your cooker will still feel 'alive'!
There are customers who prefer to leave their top oven on constantly at a higher temperature, or their cast iron plate on a simmering temperature 24/7 for more heat into the room. This is perfectly fine, although the running cost will reflect the increase in lost heat into the room.
