Our Pre-Installation Guide

Getting your Aga Range Cooker into your kitchen is a very exciting time but there are lots to think about! The cooker needs to be built onsite like a big jigsaw puzzle to allow for correct levels, intact seals and effective overall operation.  Your install engineer will be professionally trained and accredited for your installs and conversions. The install process will take around a day and our engineers will clean up and give you a 'handover' before they leave.

This is just a snippet of our full pre-installation guide. A copy will be provided upon enquiry with our office.

DIMENSIONS:

The wall behind the cooker needs to be free of any obstructions. Any pipework, sockets or other services will need to be moves to allow the cooker to sit 10mm from the wall (and prevent problems with access in the future - an Aga Range Cooker is very hard to shift out of the way!). The space directly behind the cooker should be non-combustible material (fire-board from a DIY store is sufficient). When designing your kitchen renovation, please triple check the dimensions to the mm! We prefer installing the cooker before the cupboards but after the floors have been installed. If you're buying an Aga Range Cooker for your existing kitchen, don't worry, we can install it without problems providing that the measurements are correct.

FLUE OPTIONS

Our Electric Aga Range cookers are normally room-venting so they can be located anywhere in the kitchen, as long as the floor can support it. There is the option to externally vent using a 28mm copper pipe. If your Aga range cooker isn't located on an external wall, a fan may be required to help with extraction (additional costs apply).

Our oil Aga Range cookers need to be vented into either an existing lined (to reduce condensation and improve updraft), chimney stack or a pre-fabricated twin-walled metal flue if you don't have a chimney. The height of the flue pipe generates up-draught. You can incorporate bends but this will reduce the up-draught. This conventional flue is black flue pipe (4" diameter), that runs from the top plate of Aga Range Cooker, up the wall then into the chimney or pre-fab twin wall system. Oil flue pipes must be 5m minimum length.

Our gas Aga Range cookers can be installed with either a conventional flue (3m minimum length) as above, or as a power or balanced flue. Powered flue comes with a fan integrated into the top plate of the Aga Range Cooker. This is consistently running from a power supply and gives off a gentle hum (similar to a refrigerator!). The fan is controlled by two sensors in the flue way which shut off the cooker if the fan fails. This is to stop any carbon monoxide re-entering the room. The fumes are pushed out of the flue to the outside, through a 54mm pipe. The flue pipe can run up to 6m but this can be restricted depending on the routing or how many bends it has. A balanced flue comes straight out the back of the Aga horizontally, through an external wall to the outside. This has a limit of 600m from the back of the Aga Range Cooker can be temperamental depending on the wind conditions (not recommended for windy gardens!).

Conventional Flues (oil and gas) can be installed vertically into an existing chimney with no bends more than 45 degrees from vertical. You can also choose a twin-walled system if there is no existing chimney. The twin-walled system is basically a metal pipe, strapped to the outside of the exterior wall, stretching to 600mm clearance of the main house and any other obstructions. The flue must have a minimum vertical length of 3m for gas and 5m for oil. This minimum may need to be longer if there are bends in the system to assist with up-draught.

CHOOSE YOUR COLOUR

We work with specialist enamel companies to provide you with a showroom standard finish and the longevity British-Made Aga Range Cookers are known for. We have over 70 colours available for you to choose from so take your time browsing!

We always recommend asking us for enamel samples to see how the light in your room can change the colour.

FLOOR SUPPORTS

If your floor is made of a solid base (screed, concrete, stone flags etc), it will most likely take a weight of the Aga range cooker. All you would need is to ensure it's level and opt for one of our plinths to raise the height of the cooker (851mm) to worktop height. If you have a suspended or floating timber floor, it may need to be reinforced. We recommend seeking advice from a structural engineer.

The base of the Aga Range Cooker needs to be completely level and able to bear the total weight (400kg for a 2 oven and 600kg for 4 oven). This falls under your responsibility so please double check!

ELECTRIC SUPPLY

Our engineers can't adapt your electric supplies so it's important that they are in place prior to our arrival.

13AMP (24/7) Electric Aga Range Cooker

The element incorporates 3kw burner which will easily run off a 2.5 ring main cable and pulls 11.5amps when firing. A 13amp fused spur switch (not a standard plug socket) is required to connect into. This must not be behind the cooker. It can be located to the left or right of the cooker, or inside a cupboard - as long as it is accessible to operate timers and within 1m of the main body.

Oil Aga Range Cooker

Our Oil models requires a normal socket to plug into. This needs to be on the left hand side of the cooker.

ElectricKit Aga Range Cooker

2 Oven Max Draw: 4.6kw

3 Oven Max Draw: 5.45kw

4 Oven Max Draw: 5.45kw

2 x 13amp fused spur sockets are required. These must not be behind the cooker. They can be located to the left or right of the cooker, or inside a cupboard - as long as they are accessible and within 1m of the control door on the cooker.

eControl Aga Range Cooker

2 Oven Max Draw: 6kW

3 Oven Max Draw: 7.4kW

4 Oven Max Draw: 6.75kW

1 x 32amp or 40amp supply from your fuse board is required. This must not be behind the cooker. The connection point can be located to the left or right of the cooker, or inside a cupboard - as long as it is in the same room, low level, accessible and within 1m of the control door of your cooker.

For 3 Oven eControl Models (or 2/4 Ovens with INSTAHEAT hob), you'll need a 40amp breaker at your fuse board.
