Aga Cooker Flue Options

Depending which Aga Range Cooker you have ordered, your flue may be different or even non-existent!

Our 13amp/ElectricKit cookers are normally room-venting so they can be located anywhere in the kitchen, as long as the floor can support it.

Our oil cookers need to be vented into either an existing lined (to reduce condensation and improve updraft) chimney stack or a pre-fabricated twin-walled metal flue (if you don't have a chimney). The height of the flue pipe generates updraught. You can incorporate bends but this will reduce the updraught. This conventional flue is black flue pipe (4" diameter), that runs from the top plate, up the wall then into the chimney or pre-fab twin wall system. Oil flue pipes must be 5m minimum length.

Our gas cookers can be installed with either a conventional flue (3m minimum length) as above, or as a power or balanced flue. Powered flue comes with a fan integrated into the top plate. This is consistently running from a power supply and gives off a gentle hum (similar to a refrigerator!). The fan is controlled by two sensors in the flue way which shut off the cooker if the fan fails. This is to stop any carbon monoxide re-entering the room. The fumes are pushed out of the flue to the outside, through a 54mm pipe. The flue pipe can run up to 6m but this can be restricted depending on the routing or how many bends it has. A balanced flue comes straight out the back of the cooker horizontally, through an external wall to the outside. This has a limit of 600m from the back of the cooker can be temperamental depending on the wind conditions (not recommended for windy gardens!).

Conventional Flues (oil and gas) can be installed vertically into an existing chimney with no bends more than 45 degrees from vertical. You can also choose a twin-walled system if there is no existing chimney. The twin-walled system is basically a metal pipe, strapped to the outside of the exterior wall, stretching to 600mm clearance of the main house and any other obstructions.

The flue must have a minimum vertical length of 3m for gas and 5m for oil. This minimum may need to be longer if there are bends in the system to assist with up-draught.

Whether you have the most up-to-date ElectricKit Advanced Conversion , or the manual ElectricKit Classic Conversion , there's some pre-installation requirements that need to be completed before we arrive. Please make sure these are all completed and in place before we arrive. If not, and we can't safely complete the conversion/install, we may need to charge for a 'failed install' and reschedule to the next available date in our diary (usually +3 months).
