Levelling the ElectricKit Hotplates

Over time, the older style of ElectricKit Hotplate can become uneven with use of heavy pans or movement. Here's how to fix it yourself (and save a call out fee!).

If your ElectricKit Hotplate has become uneven, before trying the steps below, try to SPIN the expansion ring around the hotplate to see if the levels improve. If not, continue with the adjustments.

This guide is for the older ElectricKit Original and the ElectricKit Classic systems - the newer ElectricKit Advanced has a smaller chrome expansion ring and isn't adjustable in the same way.

STEP 1:

Isolate the power to your hotplates or cooker - there are live connections inside, so a risk of electrocution if the power isn't off.

You should switch the cooker off from the mains fuse switch, or from the fuse board.

STEP 2:

Lift the expansion ring off and set aside.
- Use an oven glove if it's HOT!

You'll then see the 4 adjustment screws around the perimeter.

Don't worry if your hotplate has less insulation inside than the photo shown - we're using an older style hotplate for the demo.

STEP 3:

Using an Allen Key, turn the required adjustment screw clockwise to raise, anti-clockwise to lower.

Once your level is reached, gentle push down on each opposite side to make sure the hotplate doesn't 'rock' side to side.

Reseat the expansion ring.

If it's still not level, you may need to spin the expansion ring around slightly to get it seated correctly - if needed, remove and adjust the hotplate again until level.
